Casa del Sol

View from our table
Yesterday I was fortunate enough to find some time in my schedule to be able to go out for an early supper with a friend. We ended up at an awesome seaside restaurant, Casa del Sol, located on the beachfront in Strand. This was the view from our table as the sun was setting (Very Romantic!).
As you can probably tell, they have an outside seating area which is situated on a stunning wooden deck, just perfect for taking advantage of the beautiful seascapes and definitely where you wanted to be seated in summer!

The menu is a treasure chest with a a selection of yummy goodies to choose from, serving tapas, salads, wraps, and for the more casual eater: Burgers. We selected the seafood platter which consisted of prawns, mussels, stuffed calamari as well as a hake fillet. You can select whether you would like to have your fillet pan fried or in a beer batter (I chose pan fried), which resulted in a beautiful piece of fish, delicately cooked to perfection! choose either a beautiful salad or tasty chips to accompany your meal, which comes garnished with shavings of carrot and cucumber... the combined effect is breathtaking as you eat this tasty array of fresh seafood flavours
Chocolate Cake shooters were so so yummy

Upon arriving at Casa del Sol, we were greeted by friendly waiters ad speedy service as well as the classic chalk board detailing special offers form their menu, as well as specialty cocktails unique to each of the barmen who inhabit the to-die-for bar. I tried one of the bar special cocktails which is super affordable at only R25 a cocktail. their cocktail list is extensive and includes a list of shooter, as well as reserve cocktails which ocntain some of the top shelf favourites such as Ciroc Vodka.
We also indulged in Yagerbombs which are served in multiples of four for only R71, as well as delicious shots of Chocolate cake. Casa del Sol is definitely a local gem and for those of you who find yourself heading out to the Helderberg area or taking a drive out to Kleinmond via the scenic ocean drive, this is definitely a pit stop you must make. The upmarket decor is beautiful without being pretentious and definitely somewhere to happily enjoy a relaxed evening or even meet up for drinks with friends in one of the couch areas... Casa del sol definitely gets my seal of approval. For directions click on this link
